Welcome to theFor the Win‘s college football viewer’s guide, a weekly introduction to the most intriguing matchups of the weekend. We’ll give you a look across the college football landscape and break down the games you cannot afford to miss.


Oklahoma at Ohio State, 7:30 ET, ABC

We’re about to find out how high the Buckeyes’ ceiling is this year. Are they really national title contenders or just a really good college football team? That will likely come down to the defensive secondary, which struggled mightily in the opener against Indiana. It will get a much tougher test this week with Baker Mayfield coming to Columbus. Ohio State should win this game, but if the pass defense has problems, we’ll have to adjust our expectations for this Buckeyes team.

Prediction: J.T. Barrett gets going early and Ohio State’s pass rush proves to be the difference. Ohio State wins 37-27.


Auburn at Clemson, 7:00 ET, ESPN

Auburn might be a little underrated. This team has the potential to make a run at the playoffs. That all depends on how this defensive line performs after losing its top performers to the NFL. The line will get its first big test against Clemson, which will be led by freshman QB Kelly Bryant. He looked good against underwhelming Kent State defense in Week 1.
